Exclusive Interview: CHOJIRO D.CRAZY - PART TWO

In the second section of my interview, I wanted to find out about the inspirations behind Chojiro's masterpieces and who are his buddies who shares the same passion as him. Some interesting finding were about Japanese customizers of today and yesterday. Here are the answers...

PART TWO  - THE PRESENT

8) How many customs have you made so far?

Easily over 1,000 pieces.

9) Do you have a favorite casting? why?

Rodger Dodger - In my opinion, it feels that it is the most Hot Wheels "looking" car.

10) which of you own custom do you like most?

My favorite would be the '55 Panel Bus.

11) Did you imagine that Hells Dept. would become so popular?

We do not think that we are very popular but hopefully one day all Hot Wheels collectors will know who is Hells Dept.

12) What was your first award?

My first award was the 12TH 2003 YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW "BEST DIE-CAST AWARD"

13) How important are awards to you?

Awards are important, It allows one to discover their own talent.

14) Which is your favorite Hot Wheels convention? why?

I like the Hot Wheels Convention which was held in California. It felt very much like the Hot Wheels convention i imagine as it has tons of Hot Wheels.

15) Are there lots of Japanese customizers? 

There have been an increase in the younger generation of customizer but some older ones have stop customizing.

16) Is there a Japanese Customizers club, Do you meet with them and share ideas?

We don't have an official club but I do meet regularly with JDC13, RIP, and KEN to discuss ideas and designs. We get inspirations from each other.

17) Some of your work are quite provocative, any reason? where do you get your inspiration from?

I prefer to do stuff that reflect the current affairs and the slice of life.
